Inspired by the pink tam worn by Daisy in Season 3 of Downton Abbey, this hat is knit in the round from the top down.
You will need about 220 yards of dk or light worsted weight yarn, dp and 16 in circular needles, size 6 ( or size needed for gauge), a tapestry needle for finishing and a locking ring stitch marker.
Techniques used in the pattern include knitting, purling, decrease, increase, Emily Ocker’s Beginning and Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off. Pattern instructions include web addresses for tutorials for the bind off and cast on used.
Sample hat shown was knit using 2 skeins of Baby Twist from Alpaca with a Twist, color 4003.
