‘Daisy’ is a classic polo shirt with all-over lace. This design is very summery, light and simple, and the print itself resembles a small flower, therefore the pattern name. It has straight silhouette with recommended ease of 5-7 cm/ 2-3” around the bust.
It is knit top-down in 1 piece, starting with a double-layer classic dress-shirt collar and continuing flat until the bottom of the neck opening (trimmed with double-layer bands with optional buttonholes). Raglan yoke starts with several short rows to raise the back-neck, lace starts immediately after. From the bottom of the neck opening, the body continues in the round down to ribbed hem. Sleeves are first put on hold, then finished also in the round with some more lace and ribbed cuffs.

Yarn
Heavy-fingering to sport-weight yarn with high linen content (320-350m/350-380yds per 100g/3.5oz) in 1 color (it is easy to adjust for a contrasting collar, hem and cuffs, but a bit trickier for button bands, as it would involve intarsia).

The sample was knit out of Frescolino (100% linen; 320m/350yds per 100g/3.5oz).
Great commercial substitute (used by some of the testers) is Quince & Co. ‘Sparrow’ (100% linen; 154m/168yds per 50g/1.8oz).

Needles:

  • Main (stockinette and lace) -3.25/US 3 (or size to get gauge in lace pattern)
  • Smaller (collar in hollow rib and hems/ cuffs in half-twisted rib)- 3/US 2.5 (or 0.25mm/1 US size smaller than main)

Notions:
Waste yarn / extra cable/ stitch holders, stitch markers, row counter (optional), tape measure, tapestry needle, scissors, 2 buttons 8-11 mm / ¼-3/8” (optional).
