Welcome to this years Easter knitalong! The knitalong is in Norwegian only, but my hope is that I get to translating the designs in this knitalong to English before this summer. Numbers are international, so there is a good chance non Norwegian speakers could get it either way

The theme of this knitalong, is “The inner parts of Tromsdalen”. The mitten pattern is inspired by an old demolished farm called Dalheim, and the sock pattern is inspired by the mines in Djupdalen, both which is found in Tromsdalen, Tromsø, Norway.

New this year is that the knitalong is not a mystery (mkal), but the entire patterns are presented at once, Palmsunday.

Here’s some basic information about the mitten pattern:

Sizes: 1 (2)

Measurements:
Length: 26 (29) cm
Circumference: 19,5 (22) cm

Yarn:
2 tråds gammelserie (50 g = 160 meter), from Rauma Ullvarefabrikk, or similar. I always encourage the use of locally sourced fibres and yarns in my mittens. If you live outside of Norway, make sure to find some local fingering weight yarn for your project!

For the Norwegian knitter: Garn merket med «100% norsk ull», «Helnorsk produkt» eller «100% norsk» er å foretrekke, for å sikre kvalitet på ull og at garnet er produsert på en bærekraftig måte.
NB: If you use a different yarn from the suggested, be aware of yardage and gauge.

Alternatives:

  • Rauma Ullvarefabrikk, Lamull (50 g = ca. 250 meter)
  • Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, Vilje Lamullgarn (100 g = ca. 375 meter)
  • Jamieson & Smith 2ply jumper weight (25 g = ca. 115 meter)

Amount (grams):

  • Main color, 401: 50g both sizes
  • Contrast color, 410: 50g both sizes

Suggested gauge: 34 stitches = 10 cm in straded knitting
Suggested needles: 2,0 mm
