Our home is deep in the French countryside, where time moves slowly, and Nature reigns. Behind our 19th century farmhouse is ancient woodland. Centuries old trees grow peacefully. A breeze stirs and the fallen leaves awake and dance, before resting again in a delicate mosaic on the forest floor.

When you wear this lovely garment, you can feel that you too are in the woodland, listening to the birdsong and smelling the freshness of the Earth, with the breeze gently blowing your hair. You laugh and dance with the leaves, feeling a moment of joy and peace.

The Alpaca silk yarn mix is light as a feather, yet conserves the warmth of your body. It has the feel of mohair without the disadvantages of shedding and irritation. The mini poncho is so versatile, in that it can be used in summer to warm your shoulders as day moves into night, or as a decorative overlay to a jumper in winter.

Dances with leaves is knit flat and then sewn together upon completion. Starting at the neck line, a simple knit purl rib is increased to shoulder width and you then start the lace pattern. The pattern is written with both charted and written instructions for the lace.

This is an ideal first pattern if you are looking to start in lace, as it is not too demanding and has great impact. If you can knit stitches together and do yarn overs, you are good to go.
