DANDY THE DONKEY TOY KNITTING PATTERNS

My little donkey is ever so Dandy, with his winter hat and boots and a striped blanket saddle (which are all removable).

THE PATTERN INCLUDES: Row numbers for each step so you don’t lose your place, instructions for making the donkey, a list of abbreviations and a materials list. The pattern is 4 pages and written in English.

TECHNIQUES: All pieces are knitted flat on a pair of straight knitting needles, apart from the tail which is an i-cord tube knitted on two double pointed needles. Techniques used include short rows (wrap and turn) at the neck, picking up stitches on an edge for the jacket/saddle, making a mitred rectangle for the jacket/saddle, and a k3tog decrease.

YARN, NEEDLES AND NOTIONS INCLUDE:

  • A pair of straight 4mm knitting needles (US 6)
  • Two 4mm DPNs (US 6)
  • DK acrylic yarns (double knitting or light worsted weight); less than 30g in each colour: grey, white, red, pink and green
  • Toy filling
  • Small buttons for eyes
