This is a colorwork cowl inspired by my Scandinavian heritage and a family “Danish-American folk school” camp in Tyler, Minnesota I attend called Danebod. I recommend using red as the main color and ivory as the contrast color, although you can certainly use whatever contrasting colors you want!

The pattern includes Danish heart-basket hearts and the words Danebod Hyggelig Strikkeklub which means Danebod Cozy Knitting Club. It also says ‘25 to signify the year. You can knit up whichever year you desire, since I’ve included a chart with numbers 0-9.

I used Malabrigo Worsted yarn and 24” US size 7 circular needles. Tighter tension knitters may require a size 8 or 9 needle, whereas looser tension knitters or using a lighter worsted weight yarn may require a size 6 needle. I purposefully incorporate increases and decreases for the main colorwork so that one doesn’t have to switch needle sizes from ribbing and to ribbing.

MC (red) required about 167yd/152m of yarn.
CC (ivory) required about 142yd/130m of yarn.
