This long, dramatic lace poncho is your friend for layering all season long. You’ll create subtly shifting gradient colors by knitting with two strands at once and staggering the color change, beautifully complimenting the changing lace patterns. A rolled neckline adds some extra glamour to the look.

Yarn Knit Picks Alpaca Cloud Lace (100% baby alpaca; 440 yd / 1.75 oz): #26796 Augusta (gray; A), #27356 Matthew (pink; B), #26775 Mary (red; C), #26757 Elizabeth (dark red; D), and #26800 Thomas (black; E), 2 skeins each.

Needles Size 5 (3.75 mm): 16” and 40” circular. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Removable markers; tapestry needle.

Gauge 20 sts and 32 rows = 4” in St st; 18 sts and 34 rows = 4” in Small Diamond Lace patt; 19 sts and 34 rows = 4” in Floral Mesh Lace patt.

Notes This poncho is worked back and forth in separate pieces from the top down and seamed. A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches.

Work with two strands of yarn throughout except where indicated otherwise. Wind each skein into two balls.
