This cowl is inspired by one of the most beloved X-Files episodes of all time: “Darkness Falls” (season 1). The episode is set in an old forest where Mulder and Scully encounter green-glowing bugs among the trees.

This pattern includes two versions: one if you would like to work with worsted-weight yarn (18 stitches per 4 inches) and one if you would like to work with fingering-weight yarn (24 stitches per 4 inches). My images show the worsted-weight version.

Here is the info for both versions:

Yarn: any worsted weight yarn
Main colour: 180 yards
Contrasting colour: 150 yards

Needles: 5 mm and 5.5 mm circular needles (16 inches long)

Gauge: 18 stitches per 4 inches

Size: circumference 24 inches, height 11 inches

Yarn: any fingering weight yarn
Main colour: 210 yards
Contrasting colour: 150 yards

Needles: 4 mm and 4.5 mm circular needles (16 inches long)

Gauge: 24 stitches per 4 inches

Size: circumference 21 inches, height 14 inches

Happy knitting.
