The apprentice of the evil Darth Sidious, Darth Maul is a powerful and terrifying member of the order of the Sith. Instantly recognizable with his billowing black robes, terrifying yellow eyes, and chilling red-and-black horned head, Darth Maul is famous for his skill with his double-bladed red lightsaber—a startling weapon in the Star Wars galaxy. Though he only appeared in one film in the Skywalker Saga, Episode I The Phantom Menace, Darth Maul is a memorable villain whose popularity among fans has never waned.

Started with a cable cast on, these unisex Fair Isle mittens are worked at a small gauge in fingering-weight yarn. A simple 1x1 ribbed cuff flows into stranded colorwork with stitches tied off for an afterthought thumb. Easy decreases shape the mitten peak, then the remaining stitches are grafted together. Darth Maul’s sinister face flows across the hand side of the mitten, while striking vertical columns run up the palm side, allowing the wearer to show their allegiance to the Sith Lord with a wave of their hand.
