Very simple cowl/wimple tube knit in Shaker Rib, with deep ribbing ridges, worked in an ultra-soft yarn. Can be worn around the neck or pulled up over face and head, either under a jacket or hat or alone. Final item as knit by designer is 16 inches long, but it can be made shorter if less yarn is available. Acceptable (and much appreciated) by male recipients, who value the no-fuss/no scarf ends utility, and light warmth especially for winter sports as participant or spectator. Also the Darth Vader look the deep ribbing gives when worn pulled up over lower face. First posted to the Web circa 1998 or so on the KnitList, available for free on line ever since.
