Darwinian is an asymmetrical triangle worked sideways with a body of garter edged by a wide band of beautifully textured lace, and a twisting cable edge.

Ideal for showing off a mottled or gently variegated yarn, or a lovely dappled gradient such as a cake of Gobsmacked.

Adaptable to any yardage of fingering to worsted, by adjusting needle size to suit your preferred gauge.

Can be worked entirely from written pattern, or from chart with some notes.

The name was inspired by a slight resemblance to DNA strands in both the lace and cable edge, and by the name of the colourway used in the sample, ‘Darwin learns Portuguese’.
