Dashing Bat is a dapper little amigurumi bat with large detailed wings, expressive eyebrows, and a very fashionable waistcoat, cravat and top hat.

This is an intermediate-level crochet pattern written in US terminology. You should be comfortable working only into the front or back loop, working into loops left unworked from earlier rounds, and working into the 3rd loop of half double crochet. The pattern includes step-by-step photos throughout.

The finished bat measures approximately 5½“ (14 cm) tall with a 14½” (37 cm) wingspan when made using DK (Category 3 / Light Worsted) yarn and a 2.75 mm hook.

Materials used in the sample:

Yarn:

• Body colour: 30 g / 87 m (95 yd) – head, body and outer wings
• Lighter body colour: 15 g / 44 m (48 yd) – inner wings
• Darker body colour: small amount – eyebrows
• Accent colour: 6 g / 18 m (20 yd) – waistcoat and hat band
• Black: 10 g / 29 m (32 yd) – hat White: small amount – teeth, collar, cravat and eye details
