The Dashing Through the Rows Beanie is a super squishy beanie with a folded brim that knits up in a dash! It makes a wonderful gift knit and by the time you finish making it, you’ll want one for yourself as well! This hat was designed using Berroco Dash, but the pattern includes options for using a solid color to create a textured pattern or using up scraps to make your own imitation of Dash’s striping.

Materials

  • Bulky weight yarn or any yarn with which you can match gauge Sample used Berroco Dash (230 yds / 100 g). Note: Berroco Dash is labeled as a Super Bulky yarn, but I find that it knits up more like a Bulky weight yarn and have found it easier to match gauge with other Bulky or even Aran weight yarns.
  • US 10.5 / 6.5 mm needles (or needle size required to meet gauge) in your preference for small circumference knitting
  • 2 stitch markers, one removable
  • Darning needle

Gauge

14 stitches and 20 rounds = 4” / 10 cm in stockinette worked in the round, blocked on US 10.5 / 6.5 mm needle

Sizing

1 (2, 3, 4) with a finished circumference of 14 (16, 18, 20)” / 35.5 (40.75, 45.75, 50.75) cm

Meant to be worn with 0-4” / 0-10 cm of negative ease.

Yardage

104 (126, 147, 171) yds / 95 (115, 134, 156) m

Construction

Hat is constructed bottom-up, beginning with a folded brim. After the body of the hat is worked, decreases are begun for the crown shaping. Stitches are cinched together to finish off the top of the hat.
