The Dashing Through the Rows Beanie was inspired by a new yarn I discovered in my local yarn shop and my love for quick and easy ways to elevate basic staple pieces. This is a super squishy beanie with a folded brim that knits up in a dash! It makes a wonderful gift knit and by the time you finish making it, you’ll want one for yourself as well!

This hat is designed to use Berroco Dash, but the pattern includes options for using a solid color to create a textured pattern or using up scraps to make your own imitation of Dash’s striping!

Materials

Approximately 104 (126, 147, 171) yds / 95 (115, 134, 156) m Berroco Dash or any yarn with which you can match gauge. Note: Berroco Dash is labeled as a Super Bulky yarn, but I find that it knits up more like a Bulky weight yarn and have found it easier to match gauge with other Bulky or even Aran weight yarns.
US 10.5 / 6.5 mm needles in whatever method you prefer for small circumference knitting
2 stitch markers, one removable
Darning needle

Gauge and Sizing

A table is provided with the pattern to help you determine the size you would like to knit based on your gauge and desired ease.

Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4) to fit head circumference of 18 (20, 22, 24)” / 46 (51, 56, 61) cm.

Meant to be worn with 0-4” / 0-10 cm of negative ease. Tip: If you are knitting with a yarn that has less stretch, such as acrylic, less negative ease is recommended.

Row gauge is not crucial in this pattern, as you will be knitting to a determined length. Row gauge for this weight should fall anywhere between 20 and 24 rows per 4” / 10 cm.
