Davida’s lion toy was created from a drawing my Granddaughter Davida drew and said Grandma, can you make me this toy? So, of course I just had to. As I crocheted it, I carefully wrote out the pattern so that others can make it, also. All proceeds from sales of my toy will go directly to her.

Davida’s lion toy is crocheted in rounds with very little joining, starting at the head and ending at the tail. The mane and ears are crocheted onto the head as it is worked. Only the legs and wings are made separately and sewn on.

Yarn used: I used small balls of scrap yarn I had in my stash, light worsted weight and sport weight yarns, in dark yellow, light yellow, and a few yards (or meters) of royal blue, turquoise blue, and black.

Crochet hook US G/6 (4mm).

Measures 15” (37cm) long from nose to end of tail X 5” (13cm) high.

Skill level: fairly easy. Crocheted mostly in sc, with some hdc and embroidery. I give photos to illustrate how I made some parts of this toy.

Pattern is available in English only, and uses US crochet terms.
