Davy Cardigan
Please note: This pattern is available for free because I am still working on building an audience and developing my grading skills, it has also not been tested. The Davy Cardigan is an oversized all-over cabled cardigan with saddle shoulders and a chunky crew neck. The cardigan is worked from the top down, and the pattern is fully charted for each size. First, two shoulder panels are knitted and the stitches at the end are placed on hold. Then, stitches are picked up along each shoulder panel, and more are cast on for the back of the neck. Short rows are done to lift the back neck and shape the shoulder slope. The back panel is worked with increases to shape the armholes, and the stitches are put on hold while the front is knitted. Each side of the front panel is worked separately from stitches picked up along the shoulder panel. Once the front armhole increases are worked, stitches are cast on for the under arm and the fronts are joined to the back panel. The body is worked back and forth with 1x1 rib at the hem. Stitches are picked up around the sleeve opening and short rows are worked at the top of the arm. The sleeves are then tapered towards the cuff. Next, a double-knit button band is made from stitches picked up along the body with buttonholes worked onto one side of the placket. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neck, and a 1x1 rib folded collar is knitted onto the cardigan.
The jumper is knitted with two strands of yarn held together throughout, with both strands held together in cable pattern on 5.5mm needles you should achieve a gauge of 18st x 23 rows in 10cm. To swatch for this cardigan, I recommend knitting one of the saddle shoulders instead of a separate swatch. Your saddle shoulder should be 10cm wide when washed and blocked and your row gauge in pattern can be measured.
Sizing:
The Davy Cardigan is available in sizes (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12), if you lie outside of this size range, I am more than happy to grade an additional size- just reach out!
The Davy Cardigan is designed to be oversized and slouchy with around 25-40cm of positive ease, so choose a size that has a finished bust circumference that is that much larger than your own bust circumference. The sample shown in the pattern photos is a size 5 and is worn with approximately 38cm of positive ease.

Materials
5.5mm circular needles with a 60cm and 100cm cable (40cm cable optional if you do not want to knit the sleeves on magic loop)
4.5mm circular needles with an 80 or 100cm cable (ribbing on sleeves and body)
4mm circular needles with 60 or 80cm cable (button band and collar)
5 buttons approximately 15-18mm in diameter.
