The Dawson Baby Blanket is a textured blanket based on a simple block stitch, but with a twist! The crosses in the corners of each rectangle make curved and interwoven lines that are attractive and easy to knit.

Although the blanket is knitted flat I recommend using circular needles at least 60cm (24”) long to hold the number of stitches easily. The sample is knitted in Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino shade Kingfisher.

The design was inspired by the Jewel Cross-Rib in Barbara G. Walker’s ‘Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns’ p27.
