A mandala (literally, a circle) is a spiritual symbol of the Universe. The Daydreamer’s Mandala was designed with that very definition in mind. Its changing shapes symbolize the four elements, and their perpetually evolving nature. It is also believed that creating mandalas is a soothing process, related to personal growth.

This easy to follow pattern (7pages) contains step by step full written instructions in English using standard crochet abbreviations and US terms. Special stitches are explained at the beginning of the pattern. I also included many pictures to illustrate the trickier parts and some less common stitches.

But once you have your beautiful crochet mandala – what can you use it for ? Well, the possibilities are endless :
if you make it with crochet thread, or a fingering weight yarn, it’s a perfect doily or placemat for your table ! You could also attach a few tassels or a fringe, and use it as a beautiful (day)dream catcher.
If you use sport/DK/worsted weight yarn, your mandala can become a hot pad or a wall hanging. Or, you could sew it to a round pillowcase, for a truly stunning pillow. You could even use it as the center of a circular vest, or attach it to a crochet handbag as a flap.
If you use bulky yarn, your Mandala could become a beautiful rug
In short, the possibilities are as endless as your imagination !
