I’ve been fascinated with knitted wimples since I saw a pair of them designed by Priscilla Gibson-Roberts in Melanie Falick’s book America Knits and then another of hers in Lace Style. I tried to design a more fitting version, and this is my first one (of many to come, hopefully) that will fit snuggly on your head.
For cat pattern lovers, don’t worry, I’m not done with cats. I still have several cat designs in the work ;)

“Dayflower” is the name of the lace pattern applied at the lower border, found in Barbara Walker’s Second Treasury.
This wimple is worked in flat and in the round. First work the lower border back and forth and join it into a ring. Then pick up and knit the center section in the round. Bind off under the chin and continue working in flat with shaping, ends in grafting the top. Lastly, pick up stitches around the face opening and finish with picot bind off.
