The Art Deco period during the 1920s and 1930s is well known for it’s geometric and streamlined forms. Glamour and elegance abounded! It’s time to put a little of that into my patterns.

The pattern is written for mosaic overlay crochet and is suitable for mosaic beginners, as long as you know crochet basics and can research YouTube videos for help if you need it. The pattern does include instructions on how to crochet mosaic overlay and how to follow the charts. It contains written instructions as well as charts (marked with Xs) which include repeats marked for right and left-handed crocheters. There are extra charts kindly provided by tester Caroline, showing placement of the extra colours she used in her gorgeous blanket.

There are 4 large designs each having stitch repeats of 52 and a bonus smaller design that can be used to extend the size of your blanket if you wish. When choosing yarn, it is important to choose contrasting colours so the design stands out.

It is available in both US and UK terminology. The blanket in the pattern measures 93 x 127cm (36 ½ x 50”) using mostly Stylecraft Special DK and some Scheepjes Colour Crafter and a 4mm hook. Pattern includes information about how to make larger blankets. Any yarn can be used, but of course the size will vary depending on yarn used, hook size and tension.

This pattern refers to Bebablanket’s Double Border, Easy Start, 3 magic steps which can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mctYBKni1P0&t=1433s There is a link to Bebablanket’s excellent video in the pattern.
