This is a pattern that I dreamed up when thinking about how I could make something fun, practical, and mathematical for a child. I remembered how much fun I’d had making Moebius strips as a child and slicing them down the center line. Somehow, the novelty of ending up with one connected loop and not two separate pieces never wore off. And to this day, I’m still delighted when I do a second cut and get two linked loops! This cowl is inspired by that thrill of the unexpected.

You will need one skein of sock yarn and 20-40 small buttons. The pattern is highly adaptable and can be modified to use different stitch patterns or gauges.
