Undulating waves of Feather and Fan stitch are complemented by simple, stranded colorwork creating a sea of vibrant textures and patterns in this scrumptious cowl. Easy stitch combinations and multicolored yarn create an ample cowl that can be worn snugged around your neck or pulled down around your shoulders for an alternate look.

Beginning with a provisional cast on, this piece is knitted flat, and then the two ends are joined using the Kitchener stitch. Detailed instructions for the Kitchener stitch are included at the end of the pattern. The cowl consists of four 56-row sections, one for each contrasting color. The main color is used in all four sections. You will need five different colors of yarn for this pattern. I used four different colors of bulky weight yarn, and needed approximately 82 yards of each color. For the main color, I used approximately 140 yards of worsted weight yarn.
