This is a simple pattern crocheted in one piece, in ribbed trebles (UK terminology - trebles worked into the back loop only). The intriguing shape is created when sewing the side seems. See free chart for details!

Can be worked in any yarn at any gauge, but looks wonderful with a fairly solid background yarn interspersed with Art Yarns every three or four rows. If using approximately DK weight yarn, it works up very quickly, the smaller size only consists of 22 rows.

Sizing

For a UK dress size 10-12 I suggest making the initial row measure 36” and working enough rows to make each arm of the V measure 12” across.

I have made one in approximately size 18/20 which measured 40” x 14” at the shoulders.

So for a size 14/16 you would need approx. 38” x 13”

To check your size, pick your chosen measurement, hang a tape measure around your neck with the halfway point at the back of neck, and have the start of the tape level with your measurement. The start of the tape will then show you were the points will come to on your chest. If you want it a little higher or lower adjust your starting chain measurement. You can pin the side seems and try the bolero on before sewing up to see if you have done enough rows for it to fit well. Please note the side seems are not straight, they slope away to meet the v point at the back.

If using Art Yarns, you will find that most of the texture appears on the reverse as you work, so when working the first textured row, count that as the reverse side and work an odd number of rows between textured stripes. That way you will always work the textured yarn on wrong side rows and have all the texture showing on the front!
