INTRODUCTION-
Deeside Poncho Grand is knitted top down and in the round. You will begin with the body. After the body has been completed you can pick up stitches around the neck opening and make a turtle neck (this is optional). The pattern is charted and written. This pattern has a very loose gauge. The pattern calls for DK weight yarn to be knitted with US 8 / 5.5 mm needles. So when shopping for yarn you might not match the suggested gauge on the packaging. The final garment has a loose comfortable feel to it with wonderful drape. Please be sure to test the neck hole to be sure it fits over your head as soon as you change to the 32” needles. The neck hole is intentionally smaller at first because the overall weight of the finished poncho will cause it to open more. Just be sure to cast on loosely so you do not have a tight cast on row.
