The Delayed Departures Cowl is a flexible and fully adjustable design that can be adapted to suit your tastes. The design stemmed from my love of simple lace patterns and geometric shapes. While the name came to me while I was stuck at Dubai Airport as my flight back to Bahrain was delayed by over 8 hours. This also happened to be when I knit and finished this cowl so the name seemed appropriate at the time.

This cowl was knit out of cotton DK weight yarn but can be knit out of any yarn and weight you desire, just make sure to adjust the needle size accordingly. It’s knit at quite a loose gauge to give a light airy feel and along with the cotton yarn it makes for the perfect summer cowl.

Instructions are given for a long loop cowl, which can be wrapped twice round the neck, however the length of the cowl can easily be adjusted by adding or subtracting the number of pattern repeats that are knit.

The Lace pattern is both Charted and Written out so you can knit it with which ever method you prefer.

What you will need:

• Yarn – Approx 270m DK Weight Yarn
• Needles – 5mm Circular needles 75cm/29”
• Notions – Stitch Markers and tapestry needle to weave ends
• Gauge – Approx 10cm per pattern repeat, however gauge is not very important in this pattern as long as you are happy with the fabric you are getting.
