This is written in US term crochet shorthand. Knowledge of basic crochet stitches is required to complete this written pattern.

Yarn Suggestion - Medium weight worsted yarn (size 4). Feel free to use any type of yarn you would like but the size of your case and color pattern might be affected.

Hook Size - 4.5 mm (what the pattern was designed for). You can use whatever you are comfortable using but the size of your case might be affected - always make a gauge swatch before beginning the project.
