These socks are named for my little 1/2 Cherokee grandmother who raised me until I was 10.
This pattern:

  • is suitable for toe-up or top-down either one.
  • is both charted and written
  • has a fairly easy stitch pattern in outer cables and central lace on the top of the foot and around the leg, with a plain stockinette sole.
  • is a formula, and the knitter needs to apply their own favorite toe/heel/cast off. I have included pertinent links in case the knitter is unfamiliar with a toe or heel technique.
  • is written in Middler fingering or Adult Sport (56 stitches), Teen (60 stitches), Medium (64 stitches) and Large (72 stitches)
  • is suitable for solid or tonal yarns, or a slow gradient. The stitch pattern might get lost in a very busy yarn.

Needles needed: Size US 1 (2.25mm) for fingering yarns or US2 (2.75mm) for Sport weight, or size needed to obtain gauge. You may find it helpful to have a cable needle or an extra DPN

The 56-stitch size could be made in Sport weight for a Ladies’ L sock or in Fingering weight for a middler/young teen size sock.
