These mittens were inspired by the character Demelza, with her ginger hair and seablue eyes.

Required technical skills

• Knitting in the round with 2 colours per row, a few sections with 3 colours (don’t let that scare you, the result is worth the effort!)
• Knit & purl
• Picking up stitches (for the thumb)
• Increasing & decreasing
• Reading a colourwork chart

Size
The mittens come in one size: women’s S/M. Should you like to knit a different size, please choose a different needle size and/or yarn type (which might influence the amount of yarn needed).

• Total length mitten: 23,5 cm
• Circumference: 19,5 cm
• Length from cast-on edge till thumb: 11 cm
• Length from thumb till top: 12,5 cm
• Thumb length: 6,5 cm (or as desired)

Hifa Ask (100% Norwegian wool); 315 meters / 344 yards per 100 gram
Colourways: 6127 Lys grønnturkis (MC), 6136 Mørk flyblå (CC1), 6570 Melert oransje (CC2)

Total yardage
MC: 88 meters / 96 yards (28 grams)
CC1: 63 meters / 68 yards (20 grams)
CC2: 22 meters / 24 yards (7 grams)

Needles
Since every knitter has her or his own ‘hand of knitting’, no needle size is given. The only thing that matters is that your knitting matches gauge, otherwise your mittens won’t fit.

Just for information: sample mittens were knit on a 80cm-32in/2,5mm circular needle using the magic loop technique.
