“All the basic patterns in this book include 6-8 cm of positive ease (3-4 cm front and back, when knit flat) for the chest area. You can adjust this is you would like more or less positive ease, based on your own calculations. You can also determine the height up to the armholes and make then shorter or longer than given in the patterns. The armhole height usually is a third of the total length of the sweater, but you can adjust it to your own preferences, based on the upper arm circumference. Divide the neck and shoulder stitched base don’t chest measurement plus positive ease, divided by two. Measure the depth of the neck opening by measuring from shoulder down the beast bone, taking into account the height of the collar you want to knit. For the sleeve length, measure from the armpit along the arm down to the wrist. The sizes given in the patterns are standard sizes, but they are easily adjusted to fit your body type. Because all the model are T’s and all ganseys are based on the chest measurements, the patterns can be easily adjusted to fit men, women girls and boys.”
