This lacy square handkerchief scattered with strawberries was inspired by Desdemona’s handkerchief. Although Othello describes the handkerchief as being made from silk, I chose to use a light cotton and linen blend because that seemed more like handkerchief material to me. It can be worked in plain white and left plain or dyed, or it can be worked in intarsia. To demonstrate that this project could be decorative and useful, I also made a blanket with worsted-weight yarn.
