This is a knit cactus pattern. It is knit in the round and the arms are added by picking up stitches and using short row shaping to give them shape. The pattern has you knit two arms, but you can add more or fewer as you desire.

The small size is about 3 inches/7.5 cm tall and is designed for using as an ornament or keychain or just for fun. It requires 25 yards/23 meters, about 10 grams.

The Stout size is about 3.75 inches/9.5 cm tall and is ideal for using as a stuffy toy, paper weight, or bean bag. It requires 75 yards/69 meters, about 30 grams.

The Tall size is about 7 inches/18 cm tall and is well suited as a decoration or small decorative pillow. It requires 150 yards/138 meters, 60 grams.

The larger sizes are weighted at the bottom and thus able to stand up on their own.

Yarn suggestion: Any worsted weight yarn can be used, but something with a little bit up fuzz will add to the cactus feel. I used Knit Picks Wool of the Andes for the ornament/keychain, Universal Yarn Deluxe Worsted Superwash for the Stout cactus and Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn for the Tall cactus.

Double pointed needles are suggested for this pattern. Size US 4/3.5 mm. Instructions show the best way to separate stitches onto 3 needles. 9 inch circulars will work for the Stout and Tall cactus bodies as they measure 10.5 inches after stuffing.

The use of a weighted medium is required if you want you cactus to be able to stand on its own easily. I used uncooked popcorn and dry beans in mine. You can also buy plastic pellets designed for this use. You will also need a soft stuffing material. I used yarn scraps and fiberfill.

The body of the cactus is beginner level, but the arms are intermediate level. They are small and fiddly on the dpns, and use short rows for shaping while continuing the stitch pattern.

A pinhole cast-on is used for starting the body section. Links to video tutorials are provided for this technique and for other techniques used in the pattern.

Fun note: If you leave the arms off the ornament/keychain, it look like a pickle.
