This is a fairly quick project that requires only the basic stitches to achieve a cosy result. The hood is worked flat, in one piece, and then the back seam is sewn together to give the shaping. The main part of the hood is worked in stocking stitch with a garter stitch neck edging, then the face frame/ties are worked in garter stitch.

While I used a self-striping yarn for the main part of the hood, you could easily use a single colour with matching or contrasting ties. Any wool or acrylic yarn would work well with this pattern. Just try and ensure that both yarns have a recommended needle size of 5mm (US size 8).
