There’s a little devil inside each of us. And that’s a good thing. Because it’s thanks to this part of our Self that we can simply take care of ourselves. It’s sometimes what drowns out our inner angel, who tells us not to think about ourselves but to be sensitive, helpful, kind, and loving beings. It’s what allows us to, for example, sit down with a cup of our favorite coffee or tea and read a book, watch a TV series, or forget ourselves with that one, this-time-really-last-row, while the apartment isn’t cleaned, dinner isn’t cooked, and perhaps other things are still waiting. Our inner devil takes care of us. It gives us a pinch of that healthy selfishness that we all need.

W każdej z nas siedzi taki mały diabełek. I to dobrze. Bo to dzięki tej części naszego Ja potrafimy zwyczajnie zadbać o siebie. To on przygłusza czasem naszego wewnętrznego aniołka, który każe nam nie myśleć o sobie, tylko być wrażliwymi, pomocnymi, dobrymi i kochającymi istotami. To on sprawia, że potrafimy na przykład usiąść sobie z kubkiem ulubionej kawy/herbaty i poczytać książkę, obejrzeć serial czy zapomnieć się przy jeszcze tym jednym, tym-razem-już-naprawdę-ostatnim rządku, podczas gdy mieszkanie nie jest posprzątane, obiad nie jest ugotowany i może jeszcze inne rzeczy czekają na swoją kolej. Nasz wewnętrzny diabełek o nas dba. Daje nam szczyptę tego zdrowego egoizmu, którego każda z nas potrzebuje.
