Diamond Dress
The Diamond Dress is the perfect winter accessory to keep your little one warm. Designed with a classic ribbed yoke, the stretchy ribbing will grow with your child for wearing across multiple years.
This pattern is designed for anyone to pick it up and successfully knit a dress. Full instructions are provided for each step with no guessing needed.
Construction
Knit in the round from the top down, it features seamless construction and lace patterning on the skirt. Both written and charted instructions are provided for the lace pattern.
An optional eyelet round can be added to the bodice for use of a ribbon or I-cord.
Sizing
To fit the approximate age ranges below
0-1 year: 38-48 cm / 15-19” chest
1-3 years: 45-55 cm / 18-21.5” chest
2-4 years: 50-60 cm / 19.5-23.5” chest
3-6 years: 55-65 cm / 21.5-25.5” chest
5-8 years: 60-70 cm / 23.5-27.5”
Gauge
Bodice ribbing: Knit in the round using smaller needles in 2x2 ribbing, 28 stitches by 34 rows over 10 cm or 4 inches.
Lace skirt: Knit in the round using larger needles in the diamond lace pattern, 22 stitches by 30 rows over 10 cm or 4 inches.
Yarn requirements
Any 8 ply / DK weight yarn that you can achieve gauge with.
Standard skirt
0-1 year: 160 gm / 330 m
1-3 years: 220 gm / 460 m
2-4 years: 280 gm / 585 m
3-6 years: 340 gm / 715 m
5-8 years: 400 gm / 840 m
Fuller skirt
0-1 year: 200 gm / 420 m
1-3 years: 250 gm / 525 m
2-4 years: 300 gm / 630 m
3-6 years: 400 gm / 840 m
5-8 years: 450 gm / 945 m
Needles & Notions
- 3.5 mm / US 4, circular needles in various lengths from 40 to 80 cm or 16 to 32 inches for the ribbing
- 4 mm / US 6, circular needles in various lengths from 40 to 80 cm or 16 to 32 inches for the skirt body
- Four stitch markers
- Measuring tape
- Darning needle
- Scissors

- Stitch holder
- Additional stitch markers for between pattern repeats
