Modular design with panels of mitered diamonds, knit first. Sides panels picked up and knit from front panels, with a cast on hem, then joined in the round. Sleeves are knit from the side panels remaining stitches. Finished with collar and button rows in contrasting yarn.
Suggesting knitting a swatch diamond first to determine size. Measure the width and height of diamond and extrapolate from there.
For example, a five inch wide diamond will result in a back panel of 10 inches and front panels of five inches each. Side panels will be determined by deducting 20 inches from the hip measurement plus 2-3 inches of ease, divided by two. 40 inch hips will need to have side panels that measure 10-13 inches in width or 50-65 cast on stitches at the hem.
