Diamond Socks
- This is a toe up sock pattern.
- This pattern is written for Magic Loop or Addi FlexiFlips. All of your front’s stitches and all of your back stitches will be evenly divided between two needles. If you desire, you can use DPNs by separating your work onto four needles so two needles represent your top needle (TN) and two represent your bottom needle (BN).
- Foot landmarks are used to determine how long certain sections should be, so be prepared to try on your project as you knit.
- The same pattern is used for both the right and left sock.
- This pattern is compatible for two at a time knitting, but is written for one at a time.
- Gauge: 32 stitches x 70 rows = 4x4 inches in the diamond pattern.
Size one is for an older child/narrow women’s foot.
Size two is for a standard/wide women’s foot
Note: Length accommodations are made within the pattern so only the foot width needs to be considered when choosing which size is best for you. The diamond pattern has a restricted stretch, so please size up if between sizes.
One of my testers had a narrow foot and standard ankle and could not get her sock over her ankle once she started the circumferential diamond pattern. The modification of adding 12 stitches to the back needle (evenly spaced) one row before starting the circumferential diamonds and then following the instructions for size 2 for the rest of the sock worked well for her so she did not need to restart her socks. That being said, I still recommend size 2 if you are on the fence.
