Two strands of sport-weight yarn are held together throughout the pattern. Holding two strands of sport-weight yarn together equals one strand of worsted or aran-weight yarn.

If you decide to use another yarn, you will need approx. 330 (380, 435, 490, 545) (545, 600, 655) yds / 300 (350, 400, 450, 500) (500, 550, 600) m of worsted or aran-weight yarn.

Needles: US 6 / 4 mm 24” / 60 cm circular needles for the neck and armhole ribbing. US 7 / 4.5 mm 24” / 60 cm circular needles for the body.

Notions: Stitch markers, waste yarn or stitch holder (optional).

GAUGE
16 sts x 22 rnds to 4” / 10 cm on US  7  / 4.5  mm needles with two strands of yarn held together in Stockinette Stitch, after blocking.

CONSTRUCTION
This slipover is knitted from the bottom up. First, the ribbing is knitted flat. After the ribbing, the body is worked in the round and, at the same time, the diamond stitch pattern is worked. After separating for the armholes, the front and back are knitted flat. The shoulders are seamed together. Finally, stitches are picked up for the round neck and armhole ribbings.

MODIFICATIONS
You can also make the vest using only one strand of yarn in which case you should look for aran or worsted-weight yarn. Make sure to swatch to make sure you get gauge.
