To celebrate my birthday month, if you purchase any two of my patterns from this list during November: Something Lovely, Aster or Diamonds are Forever, you will receive an automatic 30% discount.

This pattern was originally part of the Knitsch Jewel Thief yarn club.

Requiring only 100g of fingering weight yarn, this is an easy lace cowl. It would be helpful to have some knowledge of basic lace stitches (SSK, K2tog, YO), although there is only one 6-stitch lace chart for the entire pattern that is easily memorised.

The pattern alternates diamond lattice with garter stitch. The garter stitch sections are themselves divided lengthways into alternating panels of diamond lattice and garter stitch to provide visual interest and prevent boredom while knitting.

An approximate measurement is 22 sts x 42 rows to 10cm/4” in diamond lattice pattern (blocked). Gauge is not essential. Tight knitters may want to consider using 4.5mm (US 7) needles, while loose knitters may prefer 3.75mm (US 5) needles.

Because the suggested yarn is super twisted, it will revert to a smaller size once it is released from the blocking pins. The following measurements will give you an indication of finished size:

Unblocked: 127cm/50” circumference x 15cm/6” high
Blocking measurements: 146cm/57” circumference x 20cm/8” high
Once dry, the shawl will revert to: 140cm/54” circumference x 16cm/6½” high

Measurements will obviously differ if you are using a different type of yarn. My guess is that the shawl will stay the same as the blocked measurements.
