There are days when you crave hot tea and cookies, others when you want lots of fruit, and sometimes a simple snack with a good pretzel is the best thing in the world.
Therefore, there are several options for these socks as well. The basis is always a large diamond pattern. This basic pattern follows an intuitive rhythm and is thus easy to remember. There are three variations available. Variation A is for all the purists. Here, the diamond pattern gets the full attention and is allowed to take over the socks all by itself. In Variation B the diamond pattern is surrounded by small diamonds at the top and bottom. And in Variation C the diamond pattern on the leg is followed by block stripes on the foot area and small diamonds are knitted before the toe.
The socks are worked from the cuff down with a short row heel. The toe is finished with Kitchener stitch. The length of the foot is individually adjustable. You can use just two colors, or you can make it colorful or even a leftover yarn project, choosing a different contrast color for every pattern block.
The instruction includes written directions for every part of the socks and some general remarks on knitting fitting socks in colorwork. Furthermore, charts for the colorwork for every size and a summarizing table with all the measurements and required amounts of yarn/yardage.

SIZES
Socks fit sizes EU 35/UK 3/US 4 to EU 43½/UK 10/US 11.
Measurements of the finished socks are as following:
Size 1 (CO 60 sts): 16.2 cm/6.4 in circumference and 21 cm/8.3 in foot length
Size 2 (CO 70 sts): 18.9 cm/7.4 in circumference and 23 cm/9.1 in foot length
Size 3 (CO 72 sts): 19.5 cm/7.7 in circumference and 24.1 cm/9.5 in foot length
Size 4 (CO 84 sts): 22.7 cm/8.9 in circumference and 26.1 cm/10.3 in foot length

YARN
Fingering weight yarn or 4-ply sock yarn.
For a pair of socks (detailed quantities for each color are given in the instructions):
Size 1: 65 g/255 m/280 yd
Size 2: 80 g/310 m/335 yd
Size 3: 80 g/330 m/360 yd
Size 4: 100 g/400 m/435 yd

NEEDLES
Set of double-pointed needles 2.5 mm (US 1.5, UK 12 or 13) or size required to achieve gauge.
If desired, additional thinner needles for single color sections.

GAUGE
37 sts and 44 rows = 10 x 10 cm (= 3.94 x 3.94 in)
(approx. 38 sts and 45 rows = 4 x 4 in)
for colorwork knitted in the round.

Es gibt Tage, da ist einem nach heißem Melissentee und Keksen, an anderen nach viel Obst und manchmal ist eine einfache Brotzeit mit einer guten Brezn das Beste auf der Welt.
Daher gibt es auch für diese Socken mehrere Optionen. Basis ist immer ein großes Rautenmuster (engl.: diamonds). Dieses Grundmuster lässt sich leicht merken, da es einem intuitiven Rhythmus folgt. Es stehen drei Varianten zur Verfügung. Variante A ist für alle Puristen. Hier bekommt das Rautenmuster die volle Aufmerksamkeit und darf sich ganz allein auf den Socken breitmachen. Bei Variante B ist das Rautenmuster oben und unten von kleinen Rautenmustern umsäumt. Bei Variante C folgen auf das Rautenmuster am Schaft Blockstreifen im Fußbereich und kleine Rauten vor der Spitze.
Die Socken werden am Bündchen begonnen und zur Spitze gestrickt; die Ferse wird als Bumerang-Ferse gearbeitet. Die Spitze wird mit Maschenstich abgeschlossen. Die Fußlänge ist individuell anpassbar. Es können lediglich zwei Farben verwendet werden oder es kann richtig bunt werden oder sogar ein richtiges Resteprojekt, indem für jeden Musterblock eine andere Kontrastfarbe gewählt wird.
Die Anleitung enthält Textanweisungen für jeden Teil der Socken und einige allgemeine Hinweise zum Stricken passender Socken in Jacquard-Technik, weiterhin Strickschriften für den Musterrapport in jeder Größe und eine zusammenfassende Tabelle mit allen Maßen und benötigten Wollmengen.
