These hat and mittens were designed with Fall in mind: the rusty colors, the warmth we need on our hands and head when we walk outside, the shape of the oak leaves flying on the ground. The work is simple and quick in a worsted weight gauge, where the rounds knit quicker and quicker. The pattern is easy to memorize, repeat, and also to adjust to fit different sizes. The elegant and easy-to-knit Latvian braid frames both the face and the hands of the recipient.

This set was designed for Andrea Wong’s “Portuguese Knitting” technique, but is easily knit with any stranded knitting technique. The pattern is charted.
