Dinglelegs – knitting instructions for baby socks, approx. 3 – 12 months

Dinglelegs is a knitting guide for baby socks,
suitable for 3–12 months, with instructions for
adjusting the fit.
The instructions are based on one simple
construction, with stitch numbers and
measurements that can be adjusted to fit the
child.
The foot length is easily adjusted by measuring
the child’s foot, and the leg height can be
adjusted by measuring how high you want the
sock to reach on the leg.

About the Construction of the Sock
I designed the Dinglelegs together with my daughter
when she needed to carry her baby on buses and the
metro in Copenhagen. Ordinary socks kept falling off.

Dinglelegs are therefore designed to be wider at the
top, allowing them to fit comfortably around the calf,
even when worn over trousers or tights. Through
decreases and ribbing, they become narrower around
the ankle, helping to keep them securely in place.

Yarn: Use a sock yarn such as Raggi with 4 mm (US 6) double-pointed
needles.
The original sample was knitted in Raggi sock yarn (100 g = 150 m /
164 yd), using approx. 50 g (75 m / 82 yd) for one pair.
You can also use 50 g / 210 m (229 yd) sock yarn held double.
Gauge: approx. 20 sts in stockinette stitch over 10 cm (4 in).
