Gauge
Your gauge will affect final size and yarn usage. I advise you to make a swatch of at least 20 stitches and rows so you know what you gauge is with the yarn you like to use. Then measure in the center of the swatch how many stitches there are in 10x10 cm (4x4 inch). This way you can also aim on the size of the dishcloth as you like. If you like the project to be slightly bigger, you can choose a bigger hook size and/or use heaver yarn.
Your Gauge
Stitches and Rows, Estimated project size in cm and inch
18 - 20 = 22 x 21 cm. 9 x 8 inch.
16 - 18 = 25 x 23 cm. 10 x 9 inch.
14 - 16 = 29 x 26 cm. 11 x 10 inch.
12 - 14 = 34 x 30 cm. 13 x 12 inch.
11 - 13 = 37 x 32 cm. 14 x 12 inch.
Yarn Requirements (Estimated)
For an average gauge of 14 sts × 16 rows per 10 × 10 cm, Project size: approx. 29 × 26 cm (11 × 10 inches). Hooksize 3mm.
• Total yarn: approx. 110 – 145 meters (121 – 158 yards) DK cotton
Color Breakdown:
• Color A: approx. 50.0% of total yardage → ≈ 55 – 72 meters (≈ 60 – 79 yards)
• Color B: approx. 50.0% of total yardage → ≈ 55 – 72 meters (≈ 60 – 79 yards)
Using a smaller hook size will reduce overall yarn usage; a larger hook or looser tension may increase it.
(We assume stitch size is estimated as follows: Single Crochet (sc): 0.055 m – 0.07 m per stitch.
Double Crochet (dc): 0.10 m – 0.135 m per stitch.)
