After having some serious fun writing my other DK sock collection The Great Outdoors Sock Collection I wanted to revisit an old favourite and create a collection of easy, beginner friendly sock patterns that work up in a jiffy! And so DK Vanilla Plus Socks were born. I enjoy super cold winters in Northern Canada and wanted to beef up my sock collection with some thick, extra squishy and extra easy socks!

In case you want to check out The Great Outdoors Socks Cuff Down or The Great Outdoors Socks Toe Up
Or even the inspiration for this pattern, the original fingering weight Vanilla Plus Socks

Here are the particulars:

  1. DK weight sock yarn is used in this collection. I would recommend using a sock appropriate (IE. Nylon) yarn so you get maximum wear out of your socks. You could also definitely hold fingering weight sock yarn DOUBLE! This creates opportunity to use all that gorgeous yarn you have socked away because these are FAST!

  2. These are constructed from the cuff down. We use a German Twisted CO and work the leg to a heel flap. The heel is turned and the gusset decreased before working the foot and the toe decreases. The sock is finished at the toe with kitchener stitch. I’ve included links to helpful resources of these techniques in the pattern.

  3. The pattern is offered in five sizes: child/adult xs to adult XL. The detailed size outline is below. These are easy to modify for foot and leg lengths. Please note: yardages are approximate and modifications to sizes, personal gauge and yarn can effect yardage requirements.

  4. Each of these designs are adventurous beginner friendly and have been tech edited. And for the seasoned knitter, these make for excellent TV knitting.

I hope you enjoy this collection and I love seeing your projects! Please be sure to tag me on Instagram so I can see and share ❤
