This poncho is worked from the top-down, with no sewing, and features a 3” deep keyhole neck opening at the front. You will begin by knitting the neck flat, back and forth across your circular needle, and then after 3”, you will join and begin knitting in the round. The pattern is given for several specific lace stitches, but literally any lace stitches can be substituted. Look for lace stitches that require every other row to be plain purl, as these are the easiest to knit in the round.

This top down lace poncho may be made in almost any weight yarn in any gauge. Pattern begins at the neck on the smallest size needles, and increases in size by both pattern increases and by switching to larger sized needles. The linked pattern shows the poncho knit in three colors of Sonata. A solid color version is also featured on the site.
