Kits in special Sound of Music—inspired colorways are sometimes available from Little Skein.

“Do-Re-Mi” is one of my favorite songs from The Sound of Music, not only for the catchy tune and whimsical lyrics, but also for the underlying message that things which seem complicated can be made easier by breaking them down into manageable parts. The Do-Re-Mi cowl uses sequence knitting to create a wonderfully squishy, double loop cowl that is soothing to knit and creases an interestingly complex look.

The pattern includes a basic introduction to sequence knitting in the round, as well as some notes on resizing the cowl, which is easily adjustable.
