Two piece outfit for 18” doll using two different self-striping, tonal, kettle-dyed, tweed or plain sock yarns, a main color and a contrast. The main color takes less than half of a 50g ball (depending on the yarn) and the contrast color can be a remnant of 8g.
Instructions are given for knitting flat or in-the-round (preferred).
Notions needed: three buttons, shirring elastic, stitch markers and yarn sewing needle.
The top starts at the neck and works down with increases for raglan sleeves. Both flat and in-the-round versions are knit flat until the bottom of the buttonhole placket. Sleeves may be knit flat or in the round.
The skirt is knit from the bottom up, ending in ribbing and the waist. It may be knit flat or in-the-round. A 24” circular needle is recommended for both versions, although it may be knit flat with two straight needles, with accommodation explained in the pattern.
(Top also great for boys, shown with improvised shorts.)
