DONALD DRAGON HAND PUPPET KNITTING PATTERN

A dragon puppet is super for story telling play!

This dragon is mostly knitted in garter stitch and knitted flat on straight needles. Once you have made the basic puppet, you sew on the eyes, ears, etc to decorate it, so you could use this pattern as a template to create lots of other animal puppets.

If you want to make a smaller version for kids, you could follow this pattern but work it in lighter weight yarn and on smaller sized knitting needles.

Yarn, Needles and Notions:

  • 30g of acrylic aran yarn (worsted weight) in each colour: Bright Pink, Pale Pink, White, Yellow, Green and Orange
  • A pair of 5mm (US 8) straight knitting needles
  • A darning or tapestry needle
  • A stitch holder
  • Beads to decorate the tongue
  • Two 8mm diameter domed black buttons for eyes
  • A handful of toy filling or cotton wool to stuff the eyes
  • Stitch markers and pins for sewing together
