Southern California rain, you’ve got us feeling a little out of our element! 🌧️☔Don’t rain on our parade! We’re not used to all this gloomy weather, but hey, every cloud has a silver lining, right? And speaking of clouds, this unexpected daily rain was the inspiration behind my latest Shawl!

Crafted to brighten even the grayest of days, this shawl is like a ray of sunshine on a rainy afternoon. With its cheerful color changes and uplifting design, it’s the perfect antidote to those dreary skies.

Let’s talk about yarn and yardage.

I opted for Emma’s Yarn Super Silky as my main color, and let me tell you, it’s my go-to favorite for good reason. This is the perfect balance to Spincycle Dyed in The Wool yarn. However, during the testing phase, we encountered a little hiccup - we ran short of it!

There’s a simple solution: ordering a second skein. I mean, let’s be honest, it’s not like you won’t use it, right? Plus, having an extra skein on hand ensures you’ll have plenty of yarn to complete your project without any stress.

Alternatively, if you’re open to trying something new, I highly recommend Emma’s Yarn Practically Perfect Sock, paired together with a Practically Perfect Smalls. It offers amazing stitch definition and would make a fantastic substitution. The talented Yarnistas at Four Purls (aka Mary Anne) have put together some awesome kits just for you!

Yarn

  • Emma’s Yarn Super Silky (80% Superwash Merino/20% silk, 400yards/100grams)
Main Color (MC) – Silver Lining – 400 yards

  • Spincycle Yarns Dyed in the Wool (100% Wool, 200 yards/49 grams)
Coordinating Color (CC) -Ghost Ranch – 400 yards

Needles: US 4/3.5mm 24” circular needles

Notions: 2 Stitch Marker, Tapestry needle, T-pins and for blocking.

Gauge: 24 stitches = 4 inches in garter stitch after gentle blocking. Although gauge is not crucial for this project, it will affect the finished size and yarn requirements. A looser gauge will result in the use of more yarn.

Finished Size: 66” x 21” after blocking
