Description:
This pattern uses yarn with a long color change and the use of short rows to create a shawl with curved rows and deliberate pools of color. The pattern starts the triangular shawl shape and teaches the “doodle knitting” technique that then lets the knitter create the rest of the shawl in free form. Simple directions for an eyelet edge are included. The result is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind creation.

Any size yarn, needle, and gauge can be used, though the final size of the shawl will vary accordingly.

Materials:
• 1 ball Crazy Zauberball color 1702 or other variation with more colors rather than fewer colors. Desired color change is every 3 to 10 feet. One ball in sock weight makes a triangular scarf about 54” x 14” before blocking, or 69” x 18” after blocking. Note: Any yarn with long color change can be used for doodle knitting.
• 30” to 60” circular needle – long enough to drape around your neck to the desired scarf length - in the yarn’s recommended needle size or slightly larger. I’m a very loose knitter so for the Crazy Zauberball sock weight I used a US 3 size, 60” long. For doodle knitting, it’s better to have a looser stitch than a tighter one. Go up a needle size or two if needed.
