The idea for the colour work design for this cowl came from my favourite childhood doodle. It reminds me of the edge of an Elizabethan ruff but drawable without my pen leaving the paper…

The colour work may look complex but it is simple to knit, using slipped stitches with only one colour being worked per round.

Although the pattern is written for one size it is easily adaptable to larger circumferences in increments of 7.5”/19 cm. Information is included in the pattern.

The sample used 201 yards (184 m) MC and 110 yards (101 m) CC Artesano Definition sock yarn in colours Kimono and Night.

The pattern is charted using StitchMastery and has full written instructions.

Stitches used: k, p, s1p

Many thanks to my testers for their input on the needle size for the borders. I guess I am just a weird knitter…
