The name Doppio was suggested to me by my dear friend Teresa. Doppio is the Italian word for double, which I think is the perfect name, because the two color brioche stitch means you get two hats in one - just turn the hat inside out and you get a whole new look (I also like the name because that is how I prefer my espresso!)

The Doppio hat is started from the top, which is my preferred way of knitting hats. This way you don’t have to worry about running out of yarn to finish the crown. You can also use the whole skein instead of ending up with leftovers.

This hat is an enjoyable and relaxing knitting project for more experienced knitters, but also suitable for knitters who are just learning how to knit the brioche stitch and want venture beyond the very basics.
